Past Events
We have provided numerous workshops and classes free of charge for students of all grades and skill levels.
Summer 2018 Workshop at the Pleasanton Library
During our first public speaking workshop, we gave elementary school students an introduction to public speaking. Students rotated through a variety of different speech games to practice their impromptu-speaking skills.

Fairlands Elementary Winter 2019 Session
We held weekly classes at Fairlands Elementary school to teach students how to overcome their fear of public speaking. Students learned the six fundamentals of a good speech (good speed, posture, eye contact, enunciation, confidence, and hand gestures) and applied these skills by delivering speeches in front of their peers.

Fairlands Elementary Spring 2019 Session
Due to the popularity of our first session, we began a second session at Fairlands to teach more advanced topics to students. Students familiarized themselves with competitive debate as they learned how to draft a case, defend arguments in a rebuttal speech, and perform a cross examination.

Mohr Elementary 2019 Spring Session
We had the opportunity to teach over 40 4th and 5th graders at Mohr Elementary School in Pleasanton. These students learned the fundamentals of public speaking, played interactive speech games, and learned how to formulate arguments during practice debates. These students were able to put their skills to the test during a Speech Contest held at the beginning of summer.

Summer 2019 Public Speaking Contest
14 contestants competed at Inklings Coffee & Tea in Pleasanton. These students ranged from incoming 5th through 8th graders, and all gave a 3-5 minute speech on the topic, "What would you like to change in the world, and why? What will you do to help?" Congratulations to all students who competed!

Fall 2019 Speech Classes at Oakland's Harbor House
Our teachers had the privilege of teaching Speak Out curriculum at Harbor House, an after-school program in Oakland for elementary school students. Students were able to choose Speech club as an elective to engage in fun, interactive games to practice the 6 fundamentals of public speaking: Speed, Posture, Eye contact, Enunciation, Confidence, and Hand Gestures.

Spring 2020 Online Speech Classes
Due to the cancellation of school as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have moved our public speaking classes to the video site Zoom. The classes are open to all 4th through 8th graders of any skill level. To sign up, please fill out the form at tinyurl.com/speakoutonline.
Summer 2020 Online Debate/MUN Classes
Every Saturday and Sunday, we held Zoom classes to teach 5th-8th grade students about Public Forum debate and Model United Nations. At the end of the sessions, we held a mini debate tournament and mock MUN conference so the students could put their skills to action!
