How We Got Started

In May of 2018, we six students from Foothill High School in Pleasanton, CA started a nonprofit called Speak Out Foundation. Though the six of us are all very different, we share one thing in common: our passion for public speaking. We have been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to learn public speaking through programs like Foothill Speech and Debate and Model United Nations. However, we noticed a scarcity of public speaking programs for younger students in our community. We did not want students to have to wait until high school to find their voice and confidence. We wanted to give students of all grades, skill levels, and socioeconomic statuses the opportunity to learn the power of public speaking. Our goal is to help students realize the power their words possess and the impact they can have on the world.
